The Long Road, Curt’s Life. by Curt A. Bergstén) I was born in 1948, with no idea what would happen to me.
1. I was placed in an orphanage when I was 18 months old with my siblings.
2. At two and a half years old, I was separated from my siblings and taken into the care of foster parents, who lived 1,200 km south in Sweden.
3. After being raised on a farm, with hard work, I went to sea when I turned 15.
4. That same year I experienced my first tropical hurricane that caused 1000s of deaths on the Caribbean islands.
5. I experienced a civil war in British Guiana. in the port we were destined for.
6. After crossing the Pacific for the first time, we were hit by what is to date the most powerful typhoon ever recorded in modern times but finally made it to Japan.
7. On my first visit to Brisbane, Australia, we were stuck in port for over 2 months due to a port strike!
8. In 1965 in Ecuador I contracted malaria and was in a coma for 2 weeks.
9. When I was about to disembark from the ship in Valparaiso, Chile, I was imprisoned by Salvador Allende for 2 weeks.
10. After crossing the Andes and arriving in Buenos Aires, I experienced the uprising, “La Noche de los Bastones largo”, organized by the Peronista movement, with tanks in the streets.
11. In 1968 I emigrated to Australia. All this during the first 20 years of my life. My book The Long Road, Curt´s Life, follows my life until the age of 75, (now living in Spain), with many more exciting experiences, from my struggle as a inventor and self-employed, learning to know famous people like, Donald trump and Rubert Murdoch.
