Mr.  Rupert Murdoch, and how I got to know him. 

In the early 1970s I worked at the Willow Garden Restaurant, Wentworth Hotel***** in Sydney.  The restaurant was high fashion at the time, with visiting customers of the Jet-Set category.  The Maître d’hôtel, called me one day and told me that he had to seat a very important guest at one of my tables.  I replied that it was no problem, I would take good care of him.

The Maître d’hôtel, Mr Small, comes with Mr. Rubert Murdoch, as well as introducing me to him.  I regarded this guest as well dressed and with a powerful expression on his face.  Respectfully without cringing, I asked if he wanted to order something as an appetizer. 

He then narrows his eyes as he looks up at me and asks where in the world I came from.  Sweden, I answered quickly without breaking eye contact with him.  Suddenly he stands up and holds out his hand to greet, at the same time saying that in Sweden there are many good people, and he knew the Director of Expressen/Dagens Nyheter the largest newspaper company in the country. 

What a coincidence, I said, and told them that I knew the production manager there, a family member of mine. 

That day I found out who he really was.

In 1954, he began to control as editor y miembro de la junta directiva de News Limited in Australia. Later as owner of the entire company and ended up founding Southern Television Corporation, where he promoted his newly licensed Channel 9 to be the first to be broadcast in 1959 in South Australia.

He also told me, that earlier in 1969 he bought the evening newspaper, The SUN, that made him the most powerful person within the Australian news industry.

Despite all that he told me about his company, to me he was a normal and nice man, with whom I had good personal contact.

After that day, he always asked to sit at my table at Willow Garden.

Later in 1976, Rupert Murdoch expanded his company and decided to cross the pond and buy the New York Post newspaper, betting on sensationalist information. Although in 2007 he did the same with one of the most important economic newspapers, The Wall Street Journal.

In the United States, he ended up founding Fox News!

The news today is; Rupert Murdoch steps down from the boards of Fox and News Corporation!

Up to his current age of 92, he has run his entire consortium as sole decision maker, which he is now handing over to his son Lachlan Murdoch.

I have followed his success all these years and can only admire his way of working.

A strange person who is ordinary inside.

Environmental disasters are not always to be blamed on the climate.

Do you know that most and worst weather occurs at open sea?  It’s only when it takes a landfall when we notice a bad climate.

We, the modern population of the world have not planned for bad weather at land.

Economic gain doesn’t consider the risks of overpopulated cities. Sewage systems are not adjusted to cope with the massive growth.

Skyscrapers and densely built-up high areas have an impact on air currents. The fresh-water demand for the population, means that too much groundwater is pumped, which affects the earth’s balance.

We are totally helping nature to destroy what we built, due to bad knowledge.

2,000 years ago, they took advantage of natural logistics. Something that has been completely forgotten due to economic thinking.

Even AI will not be able to stop the negative advance, because it does not think historically by the simple reason that it has been programmed by persons, who only been thinking in future planning, without going back in time.

All this catastrophic situation with floods, caused by heavy rainfall that is happening lately, we ourselves are a great deal to blame.

River mouths that are not dredged, water drains that are not cleaned of soil and mud, new buildings are stopping a natural flow of water, and much more.

In addition, wind farms have gained such a large scale all over the world that they even affect the normal air currents, just to sell clean energy.

We may not be entirely to blame, as our planet has moved its magnetic poles thousands of km in recent decades. This affects, among other things, the ocean currents, which are of great importance for our normal weather. In addition, the activity of the sun has changed, with stronger solar storms, which affect the earth’s magnetic field and, in some cases, also weather and natural disasters.

The weather reports have become hot news; therefore, the information is scandalized rather than scientifically presented, in order to sell better and get more revenue from ads.

Some companies and governments have finally started to react, so this example: “The United States is hit by natural disasters every eighteen days, according to the country’s government. Now the number of residential areas with climate adaptation and hurricane protection is growing, including Babcock Ranch, America’s first hurricane-proof city”.

This is a good start, even if it came in late.

Let’s all think before we decide things, and thereby contribute to a better world.

“Waterworld”, a new way of living?

Did you know that the surface of the world’s oceans is about 70% the entire earth and only 30% land?

So why don’t we build a waterworld?

The project’s name “Conshelf”, was a series of undersea living and research stations undertaken by Jacques Cousteau’s team in the 1960s. The original design was for five of these stations to be submerged to a maximum depth of 300 metres (1,000 ft) over the decade; in reality, only three were completed with a maximum depth of 100 metres (330 ft).

Much of the work was funded in part by the French Petrochemical industry, who, along with Cousteau, hoped that such manned colonies could serve as base stations for the future exploitation of the sea.

Why has no continuation of this kind of buildings continue with new technology, while nowadays people only talk about colonizing the moon. Space for housing on solid land is becoming less and less available.

Some scientists, concedes that living deep underwater for long periods may prove psychologically challenging. “There’s the issue of isolation,” he says. “For mental health, you need sunlight and vitamin D. You can replicate daylight with LED lights but this is another reason to build close to the surface – so people don’t feel so cut off from the world.”

Other scientists say, so many interested parties: governments, mining and cabling companies, the military, the oil industry. “There’s a lot going on down there, and they don’t want anyone monitoring them!” Or maybe they really have found Atlantis!?

In the end, Jacques Cousteau’s idea was not completely without merit, but like many initiators, he was premature with his thinking. Something that I myself have experienced several times through my private inventions.

In addition, in recent years, interest in underground housing in the form of earthquake-proof bunkers has become an investment among millionaires.

Eventually, perhaps new undiscovered worlds will form on our Earth, before we master space.

At the age of 75, a new TIME ZONE starts in your life.

Recently, the 17th of august, I had my 75th birthday. my new TIME ZONE started.

My first taught was that I am getting old, and life seemed to have passed so quickly. Starting to remember happy young days as a kid, growing up to a teenager, and later starting my first own business at 21.

But what really happened is that I just entered in a new TIME ZONE (TZ). Your life can be divided in TZ every 10 years, or 25, but it depends really on your self how you will define your Time Zones. It can be years of work, travel, business or family life.

I have been semi-retired now, for 10 years, using my experience from life to share to others. When looking around at well known leaders, in the world, that now are older than me, my first taught was, if they can, so do I!

I have entered in my third 25-year Time Zone and can start doing things that I have pushed away, for other reasons. My new life starts at 75, wow! I feel happy to have reached this age.

Younger people at their 40-50 years are mostly looking at a person like me, as retired and old. I always respected older people when I was younger and listened to their advice. Still if I repeated many mistakes, I always found that if I had followed all the advice from older friends, maybe I would have been a multi-millionaire today.

My goal right now, is to reach 100! Always depending on a good health and our Earths blessing.

I have also found that giving advice for free, is not a good business, so from now I will start charging for this service.

Never underestimate the impact of solar storms!

The power of Solar storms are real!

In 1921 a powerful solar storm occured, if the same would happen today, it could leave 130 million people without power. Other affects would be water suply and other infrastructures dammeged.

An even stronger/larger solar storm/flare took place in 1859, when thousends of telegraf station was destroyed by overcharge and overheating that resulted in dead operators.

If such a storm would happen today, the total recovery could take 4-10 years to restore, with an enormous cost estimated to 2-3 trillion USD.

The earth has a powerful shield to protect us from the sun, but if a large outbreake of a solar flairs would happen, the shield will not be able to protect the part of earth facing the sun at that moment.

Every 11 years or so, the sun experiences periods of low and high solar activity, which is associated with the amount of sunspots on its surface. These dark regions (sunspots), some of which can reach the size of Earth or larger, are driven by the sun’s strong and constantly shifting magnetic fields.

This means that the sun’s magnetic field also affects the earth’s own magnetic poles. Which creates a disturbance of ocean currents
as well as weather conditions, therefore extreme changes in the climate occur.

According to calculations, the sun’s maximum activity of solar storms will occur at the end of 2024. However, the sun’s active life has also changed in the last 20 years and we know little about what happens after.

Are we fooled by the costs of plastic bags?

The World Health Organization (WHO) suggests that all plastic carrier bags should be taxed to help a cleaner planet.

This is probably well thought out, but at the same time can be used as a cover to move large sums to accounts that we will never benefit from.

One example is the regulations within the EU. The production or importation of plastic bags, which are not made from recycled material, is taxed at €0.80 per kg, (in addition to this there are state taxes in some countries). For example, in Spain, the state receives €724 million extra per year.

A small calculation example: Supermarkets buy plastic bags with a tax surcharge included for the environment. The price they pay is max. €0.06 per bag. Now they say that the customer must pay €0.15 including the tax markup for the environment, but in the end, they have a gross profit of €0.09, because they have already paid the environmental tax when purchasing.

The manufacturer or importer has included €0.80 per kilo, plastic bags, according to the environmental tax regulations within the EU, in the final price to the wholesaler.

Each carrier bag weighs 20 grams = 50 pieces per kilo (1000 gr.), i.e., €0.016 per plastic bag, this included in the purchase price of €0.06.

The end consumer in shops and supermarkets pays €0,15 per bag and 1 kg. bags are 50 pcs. That will sum €7.50 per kg., the tax is €0.80 per kg.

Who takes the difference of €6.70 per kg plastic bags?

3.4 million tons of plastic carrier bags are produced in the EU every year. This corresponds to the weight of more than two million cars!

This is a huge business for everyone, except the end user!

I will admit that my profession isn’t mathematic, but I have reached this result by logic and reason.

Anyone that can prove that I am totally wrong, are welcome to make comments. I will give my own calculations a 10-20% margin.

The horizon and its mysticism

What’s behind the first horizon?

The answer lies behind the sea line.

Have you ever been on the open sea, without seeing land in any direction. Then you know the mystery of the horizon’s meaning.

Where the contrast between sky and sea that forms a clear line with an infinite spherical shape but at the same time is only a visual experience, is called horizon.

The line you see is only 4.7 kilometers away and wondering what lies behind the horizon doesn’t give you an answer until you see a stretch of land that could be days or weeks away.

I have personally traveled by ship across the Atlantic 14 times and the Pacific 12 times. My longest journey was 26 days without seeing any land. Regardless of weather and wind, there was nothing but sea and sky to rest your eyes on towards the horizon.

When you stand at the rail of a ship and your eyes search beyond the horizon, visions and dreams of what it looks like when the horizon turns into your destination, will form in your mind. An exciting feeling that you will discover something that you have never seen before, gives you a satisfaction, just by directing your eyes towards the horizon.

Day after day you see the sun rise and set on the horizon, a sight that you never tire of and which I have photographed hundreds of times, with the same results. Sky, sea and sun, but the mystery gives you satisfaction that is hard to describe.

what I learned from these endless and long visions of the horizon, is that you as a person are the happiest living person in the world, when you experience this. Therefore you overcome all fear of the powers of the sea, in which you have placed your trust.

Why are there so many riots and disturbance, in the world?

Is riots anything new?

No, it has been “popular” ever since when too much freedom has been given to people, but in different ways.

I remember the 60s and 70s when gangs of raggers went around the city and smashed everything, they could with their iron chains, without direct reason.

However, in recent years this has developed into increasingly sad events, such as a few years ago in Barcelona, Spain, and most recently in France.

Riot is a primitive way to show your dissatisfaction with the life around you as a person.  Therefore, groups with the same lifestyle are formed and together look for reasons to start to fight, make noise, to shout, create disorganization, with the result of disorder.

The result of the making all this, is usually starting with criminal acts such as, sustenance, burglary, and theft, which only gives the satisfaction of owning robbed material products, which you cannot afford to buy.

Most often, one looks for a reason to do this in general life. It could be new rules from an authority that give you this desire to start riots, without real meaning, this happens as those people do not have the power or opportunity to negotiate the matter. It can also be created when the police issue their work by protecting the population and commit an error.  They are always looking for a reason even if it doesn’t matter to them.

The final result is often being a created organized chaos, that only results in innocent people and businessmen being exposed to violence and destruction, for something they may not even know about.

Is it just the economy and convenience that is driving the expansion of #onlineshopping? Instead of walking 500 meters to a store to buy something, we order via the internet and get the same product delivered to our home for a cheaper price. A delivery truck delivers to your door, without us thinking about how much more transport energy has been used on a single product. There are people who buy their new toothbrushes online!?

What about logic and reason?

“E-commerce is increasing emissions. There is no doubt about it,” said Matt Petersen, CEO of the Cleantech incubator. “It’s no longer just FedEx, UPS and the Postal Service on the road coming once a day. There are multiple deliveries to the same address every day for anything you can imagine.”

The growing number of deliveries arriving in cardboard boxes, plastic bags and other packaging has raised an alarm that online shopping leads to more waste, like the garbage patches floating in the world’s oceans.

The carbon footprint also goes up if the customer chooses to return the item. A study in Germany showed that as many as one in three online purchases are returned. According to another study, merchandise worth nearly US$326 million is returned each year in the USA. Two billion kilograms of this ends up in landfill, leading to 13 tons of CO2 being released.

Should the consumer take personal responsibility, or must government regulations finally be introduced?

Think about how you manage your purchases yourself.
