COP30 in Brazil, failure or success?

Rethinking Climate Resilience: Why Preventive Action Must Be a Global Priority at #COP30 in Brazil.

By Curt Bergsten

I am returning with my article regarding the COP conferences, which has now reached number 30. My earlier critical view of these meetings has given me a better insight into the problems and therefore I would like to instead provide solutions that can be used at #COP30.

As weather change continues to dominate global discourse, one critical factor remains largely overlooked in major climate summits like COP: the Sun’s 11-year solar cycle. These cycles, marked by fluctuating sunspot activity and magnetic storms, contribute to short-term climate variability and unsettled weather patterns across the globe. Yet, their influence is rarely acknowledged in mainstream climate policy discussions.

Solar Cycles and Climate Variability

Earth’s climate has naturally evolved over millions of years, experiencing ice ages, warming periods, and other dramatic shifts. While human-induced climate change is accelerating environmental disruption, it’s essential to recognize that natural climate forces, such as solar activity, still play a role in shaping global weather systems.

Understanding these cycles can enhance our ability to predict and prepare for extreme weather events, which are becoming more frequent and severe.

The Urgent Need for Preventive Climate Measures.

Rather than focusing solely on emissions reduction and international climate aid, countries must prioritize preventive infrastructure and climate adaptation strategies. From flood defenses and wildfire management to heatwave preparedness, proactive planning can save lives and reduce economic losses.

Weather-related disasters — including hurricanes, droughts, and flash floods — have devastated both developed and developing nations. In many cases, the damage could have been mitigated through early investment in resilient infrastructure and disaster preparedness.

A key part of climate change is water supply, which has been affected by extreme drought or lack of water supply such as rain, as well as the actions of glaciers. This will be addressed during the COP meeting by a delegation from the global organization, #WaterPositive.

Equitable Climate Funding for All Nations

Climate resilience is a global responsibility. While financial support for vulnerable regions is essential, wealthier nations must also invest in their own climate risk management. A balanced funding approach ensures that all countries — regardless of income level — have access to the tools and resources needed to protect their populations.

A Holistic Approach to Climate action.

Climate change is a complex phenomenon influenced by both human activity and natural forces . Acknowledging this complexity strengthens our ability to respond effectively, By embracing a holistic view of climate variability and committing to preventive measures, we can build a safer, more resilient future for all of us. Hopefully this will be done at the upcoming summit #COP30 in Belen, Brazil, 10thof November this year.

Thanks for reading my post.

 What if 3I/ATLAS is real?

 What if 3I/ATLAS is real?

3I/ATLAS, is suppose to be an interstellar comet, meaning it originated from outside our solar system. It was discovered in July 2025 by the ATLAS survey telescope in Chile.

The “3I” designation means it’s the third interstellar object ever detected, after ‘Oumuamua (2017) and 2I/Borisov (2019). It’s traveling at over 130,000 mph and is believed to be billions of years old, possibly older than our solar system itself.

Why do we find 3I/Atlas Special?

– It’s a Rare Visitor: Interstellar objects are extremely rare. Each one offers a unique chance to study material from other star systems and has a high carbon dioxide content and started glowing (forming a coma) much farther from the Sun than typical comets, which is unusual and led to early speculation about its nature.

Some have speculated, including Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb, that such objects could be artificial, possibly alien probes. However, the scientific consensus is that 3I/ATLAS is a natural comet, though its oddities keep the debate alive.

Theories: Its composition, speed, and trajectory help test our understanding of how objects are ejected from other solar systems and travel through interstellar space. While there’s no evidence 3I/ATLAS is artificial, studying such objects keeps the door open for the search for extraterrestrial technology or biosignatures.

If 3I/ATLAS is real (and all evidence says it is), it’s a rare and exciting opportunity for science—a true messenger from another star system, not a hoax or science fiction. It’s a reminder of how much we still have to learn about our universe and the possibilities that lie beyond our solar system.

Are Earth’s governments prepared for a possible extraterrestrial visit by a manned craft? The answer is probably no! It’s easier to hide behind the fact that it’s most likely “just” a comet from another solar system.

If, against all odds, it is an intelligent extraterrestrial visit, will we “Earthlings” welcome this or will it be seen as a danger? My personal opinion is that it is probably a passing object, but if it were a “visit” from the universe, then we should welcome it. It has probably happened before in history.

As of now, we can only speculate about this until the date in November when 3I/ATLAS passes by.

I will be back shortly with updates.

Thanks for reading my post.

Has Spanish politics become outdated?

(Picture from Wikipedia)

Has Spanish politics become outdated?

People who knows me, also know that I was brough up in Sweden and later immigrated to Australia, but the last 30 years living in Spain.

My first contact with the Spanish politic was I 1976, when I worked for a US company in Madrid. This was the year after the death of General Franco and people in general was scared about the future, not knowing how a democratic government could improve the life in Spain.

In the year 2025, the Spanish democratic system is on the brink of collapse. Over the past decade, many politicians have become increasingly greedy and selfish.”

This applies to politicians of all stripes, national, regional and local. It is becoming increasingly difficult for voters to trust what is said. The “modern” democratic model is a closed circle, where no one outsider has access to what is happening. Everyone within the circle helps each other, supports each other, even if they are forced to lie, for their voters.

I spent six years in local Spanish politics from 2011, where I saw greed dominate and new ideas routinely ignored by a closed inner circle.

This attitude spreads across all party lines, which means that it seems free to break laws and conventional rules, just to defend one’s leadership role.

In Australia, the country has maintained a stable liberal democratic political system under its Constitution, the world’s tenth oldest, since Federation in 1901. Australia largely operates as a two-party system in which voting is compulsory.

In Spain there are 2 main parties, PSOE (Spanish socialists) and Partido Popular (PP). It is rare for someone to have their own power, but they must turn to smaller parties to win an election, to whatever the cost will be. This means that their own party has to bow to the demands made and is therefore unable to fulfill the political promises made to the voters.

In recent years, liberal ideas have been presented by outside, politically independent individuals. This has posed a clear threat to the existing party system, and the two leading parties, PSOE and PP, are trying to prevent the Liberal trend from growing.

Now one may ask what distinguishes General Franco’s policy from today’s hidden “democracy”? The power in the inner circle is more like a dictatorship than democratically elected representatives. They go against the law, by forming their own laws in the inner circle, and in this way circumvent the law.

Unfortunately, this results in increased corruption and abuse of the Spanish population, all for their own gain! (Greed!)

That’s why I say the Spanish political model is outdated!

Even some EU members are now starting to oppose Spain’s way of governing the country.

A Liberal Party will be needed in Spain, because the PSOE and PP will understand the seriousness of their policies. Otherwise, Spain will soon resemble a “banana republic” like Venezuela.

I will be back wit other posts soon.

Round 2, Donald Trump vs Pedro Sanchez.

21-08-2025, Curt Bergsten

Trump gain strength against Sanchez.

Round 2 between Trump vs Sanchez.

After the first round, Trump has a big advantage, with his strength and tactics. Sanchez in the second corner has lost his strength and now has to change tactics. Sanchez supporters have started to betray him after he clearly stated that Trump has poor movement skills.

Tactic background.

The problem with Sanchez is that he has not accepted the conditions set for NATO members, and refuses to pay the 5% that other countries have approved. This is a clear stance by Sanchez, who is turning Spain’s politics to the extreme left, similar to Venezuela. This is something that Trump does not accept and threatens with other measures against the Spanish economy, through punitive tariffs.

Sanchez’s colleagues in the EU are starting to turn their backs on him and have excluded him from the peace talks, lest they be made more difficult by his negative statements about Trump. On the other hand, Spain continues to import Russian oil to a large extent, something that other EU members have opposed. Sanchez seems to be becoming increasingly lonely in his politics, and is losing confidence within Europe.

The third round will be the decisive one. If Donald Trump succeeds in the peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, it will be a Knock Out win for Trump vs Sanchez! I will be back with the latest details of this exciting match, in the upcoming third round.

AI raises new insights in politics!

Donald Trump raises new doubt regarding the AI.

With a new presidential order, Donald Trump wants to stop what he calls “left-wing” or “woke” AI. Researchers warn that the politicization of technology may be difficult to slow down. But is AI really biased?

To call AI in general biased is based on the GI-GO (garbage In- garbage out) principles. It can therefore be understood that a creator of AI can have a different opinion than the competition and therefore control the information from the beginning (GI)

“You could see it as these language models writing a kind of very broad consensus about what we think or have thought in society – in the English-speaking society at least – in recent decades.

If diversity is presented as something positive, it is not a result of the systems being ideologically brainwashed, who points out that these systems are based on enormous amounts of text from society, including “credible” research.

“Ideological dogmas”

Earlier this week, Donald Trump issued a high-profile presidential order demanding an end to what he calls “woke AI”. Among other things, federal agencies will be forced to choose AI models that do not “manipulate their responses to support ideological dogmas such as diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The initiative is part of Trump’s strategy to give the United States a leading role in AI development.

Diversity where there was no

What initially put “woke AI” on the Republican agenda was a high-profile event in which an AI model on its own initiative turned an image of the founding father of the United States into a group of men with great ethnic diversity. This can be an example of when AI tries to compensate for one-sidedness in the data base – but where it fails.

The model trains on historical data and images, and if we go back a few decades, images of high-status roles were often white men. The model can therefore have distorted representations. What they try to do is to counteract such biases, but sometimes it backfires and applies compensation where it is not justified

Easily manipulated

Another example of how AI models can be manipulated – sometimes with unexpected consequences, is how X’s AI assistant Groq for a period responded to everything with ‘by the way, a white genocide is going on in South Africa’. This shows clearly how someone has made an adjustment to the language model and then the consequences are something completely different from what you imagined, (GI-GO)!

After all, there is a big future for AI!

Saving time is an important part of research today, so after the introduction of AI, science can multiply its information to more quickly reach results that would otherwise take years to reach. With this, I want to emphasize that it is still the human factor that determines the final result that AI presents.

My summary:

My opinions may not have much value, but we should go back to basic thinking, to evaluate whether AI will really be indispensable in our future, or if it would be better to let time determine our human development.

Trump vs EU, A peace-deal has been reached!

Von der Leyen makes a deal with Donald trump (foto Euronews)

A new “peace-deal” between US. and EU.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and US President Donald Trump “finally” reached agreement on Sunday to end their trade dispute, establishing a fixed 15% tariff on most European products exported to the US, in addition to European commitments on energy (natural gas) and defense (armament) purchases.

Who will be the winner?

The euro rose on Monday after the United States reached a framework trade agreement with the European Union. Von der Leyen said Europe will also purchase $150 billion worth of U.S. energy as part of the deal, in addition to making $600 billion in other investments into the U.S.

The framework deal is similar to one forged with Tokyo negotiators last week that will see Japan investing around $550 billion in the U.S. and a 15% tariff imposed on its cars and other imports.

China is facing an August 12 deadline to reach a durable trade pact with the U.S. No breakthrough is expected in the U.S. and China talks in Stockholm, but analysts said another 90-day extension of a trade truce struck in mid-May was likely.

The U.S. dollar advanced on Friday, bolstered by solid economic data that suggested the Federal Reserve could take its time in resuming interest rate cuts. Both the Fed and the Bank of Japan are expected to hold rates steady at this week’s policy meetings, but traders are focusing on the subsequent comments to gauge the timing of the next moves.

What does this long-drawn-out agreement mean? It seems that the big winner will ultimately be the US, while EU countries will have to adapt to the decision, which after all was not as bad as it was previously thought.

One thing is certain and that is that the foreign exchange market and the world’s stock exchanges will strengthen in the future. This is due to higher prices for almost all imported and exported goods. However, it will be the end consumer who will suffer from higher costs. A good deal if you start from the threats of 30-50% tariffs on US products, and finally we must admit that Donald Trump is the best negotiator.

I will follow developments with interest and will return with new assessments when the agreement is officially recognized.

Round 1, Donald Trump Vs Pedro Sánchez!

Political battle between Trump and Sanchez!

A little background to today’s news, June 25, 2025.

Why has this political conflict raised, between the President of the United States and the Prime Minister (President) of Spain ??

Donald Trump, 79 years, current president of USA since 2o January 2025, previously served as president from 2017 to 2021. Mr. Trump has been a very successful businessman in the construction and real estate industry and is one of the 150 richest people in the United States. I was lucky enough to get to know Donald during a conference in Germany. For me a dynamic yet down-to-earth person, who has now stepped into politics. He asked me what my opinion was if he were to present himself as a presidential candidate in the United States. I replied that he would certainly win, and wished him luck.

Mr. Trump is a businessman and therefore tries to run the country as a successful company. This means that he sets high goals, which in some cases have to be modified later, but that’s how the business world works. He promised when he took office to arrange peace between Russia and Ukraine, which has not yet been implemented, despite this he has ended the war between Iran and Israel, and India and Pakistan. The latest is the negotiations for a peace settlement in Congo. A big job, but Trump has shown that he has the strength to carry it out. In addition, he has succeeded in getting all NATO members to sign an agreement with an economic commitment of 5% of GDP. The only country that wants to try to get out of it is Spain with its president Pedro Sanchez, of which the ongoing conflict.

Pedro Sanchez, 53 years, current President of the Government of Spain since 2018. Sanchez was a newcomer to the PSOE, Spain’s Social Democrats, but had a lofty goal of becoming the president of Spain. Therefore, before being elected to represent the country within his party, he traveled to the United States and the Democratic Party headquarters to gain experience in how an election campaign should be conducted.

This was a concept that no other Spanish politician had used. The result of a new way of thinking and acting on the political scene was a great success for Sanchez. He was elected as the leader of the party and subsequently won the upcoming 2018 elections, but not with enough votes, and now sought support from small parties that had never been in government before. Some of these parties were previously terrorist organizations and independents, but the most important thing for Sanchez was to reach the presidency regardless of this.

Sanchez has been accused of undemocratic practices and corruption in recent months, which has deteriorated his position. After becoming the first Spanish president to recognize Gaza as a country, he has sought to distinguish himself as a “great” leader within the EU. The latest problem is that he has begun to oppose the President of the United States, Donald Trump, because Sanchez does not want to approve the new NATO agreement with 5% economic participation.

What will happen now?

It’s a bit like the fight between David and Goliath. However, the odds are high for Trump while Sanchez has lost popularity both in Spain and the EU. Sanchez must show himself on the battlefield so that his supporters in the government continue to vote for the proposals, otherwise there is the risk of a new election. He does not care about following the laws of the constitution to maintain power, it is starting to resemble a banana republic like Venezuela. Trump, on the other hand, has the support of the leaders of the EU, as well as other important countries. I will currently give the odds 10-2 in Trump’s favor. But the fight will continue for at least 3 rounds!

Surprise in Antarctica that NASA detected.

NASA detected an unexpected phenomenon that renews hope for the melting of the ice.

I wrote an article 3 years ago, here on my website Windmush, about this phenomenon. But important news that goes against the general perception often takes time to make an impact. Now, however, “new” findings are emerging about what is really happening.

For more than twenty years, scientists have closely monitored the retreat of the Antarctic ice sheet. However, a new study based on NASA satellite data reveals something unexpected: between 2021 and 2023, the white continent experienced an average growth of about 119 billion tons of ice per year.

This is not big news to me, as there is evidence that the Earth’s life cycle has shown that both ice-covered poles have changed several times over millennia, through increased or decreased ice cover.

Now, of course, this will not be accepted by environmental organizations, which in reality make large sums of money from marketing environmental disasters. It will be exciting to hear what will be said at the upcoming COP30 conference in Brazil later this year. It will certainly be hushed up. As will what happens with the impact of solar activity on weather and the environment.

The analysis, led by a team from Shanghai Tongji University, was based on data collected by the GRACE and GRACE Follow-On missions, which monitor Earth’s gravity to detect changes in ice mass. The researchers observed that, after a prolonged period of melting between 2002 and 2020, there was a significant rebound in the past three years.

A cautious statement has been published: “Although the recent increase in Antarctic ice mass is generating some optimism, scientists caution that this phenomenon is likely temporary and does not alter the overall trend of ice loss due to global warming. Climate anomalies that cause intense snowfall do not offset the sustained impact of rising temperatures, which accelerate melting in other areas of the continent.”

At least, its confirmed that a surprising shift is underway at the bottom of the world. After decades of contributing to rising sea levels, Antarctica’s massive ice sheet has started growing again — at least for now.

I will soon be back with a followup.

The earths Water-Triangle.

The Water Triangle by #Watersupply.

Water resources can be divided into a triangle.

Groundwater.

Freshwater is distributed across glaciers and ice caps, groundwater, and surface waters like rivers and lakes.

The origin of drinking water comes from groundwater, then the water is consumed by the consumer and the excess ends up in the sewer. It is therefore important to recycle this excess so that some is returned to groundwater.

The simplest method is the three-chamber well, which unfortunately is not used to a large extent these days. The costly method of treating wastewater for irrigation is the most widely used. If earlier treatment through three-chamber wells were used more widely, the return water would be cleaner and therefore significantly cheaper to produce.

Rain-Water.

Rain is the most common addition of fresh water, which supplies water to the ground level.

The earth has its natural water reserve in the form of underground oceans and reservoirs, but depends on the supply of rainwater that is absorbed by the soil. Rainwater is now causing great damage, because the development of extreme weather.

It is therefore important to introduce storm-water tanks to a greater extent than is done today, both in built-up areas and rural areas. These tanks should be built with natural filtration at the bottom, to increase the addition of groundwater.

From normal evaporation, humidity is formed, this can be used to extract clean drinking water through Atmospheric Water Generation (“AWG”) this is available at #SkyH2O, which #Watersupply represents in Spain.

Sea-Water.

The earth’s oceans are another natural resource, but consist of salt water.

Seawater is also the largest source of oxygen through a type of plankton that belongs to plants. The ocean therefore produces up to 70% of the earth’s oxygen and the remaining 30% of the earth’s plants.

Evaporation through the sun’s heat comes 90% from the ocean, which later falls as rain. Globally, 70% of the rain falls in the oceans and the rest on land. The total surface of the earth consists of 71% water, but the oceans account for 97% of the total water, only 3% consists of fresh water.

The unlimited source is seawater, which can be converted into drinking water is through desalination plants. We believe that one of the best and most economical are offshore facilities, such as #FOD (Floating Offshore Desalination) plants, , which #Watersupply represents in Spain. No expensive land needs to be used, and major environmental benefits can be achieved.

Conclusion, the triangle of water is; Ocean, Air and Earth.

Thank you for reading, I will be back soon.
