/ The Doomsday Clock symbolising how near humanity is to destruction has been moved one second forward to 89 seconds to midnight – the closest it has ever been.

The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (BAS) – which sets the clock annually – said nuclear threats, potential misuses of advances in biology and artificial intelligence, as well as climate change, were the key factors.

Daniel Holz, chair of the Bulletin’s Science and Security Board, said the latest move was “a warning to all world leaders”.

The clock was originally placed at seven minutes to midnight in 1947. Last year, it was left unchanged at 90 seconds.

In Tuesday’s statement, the BAS – a Chicago-based non-profit organisation – said:  “In setting the clock one second closer to midnight, we send a stark signal.

“Because the world is already perilously close to the precipice, a move of even a single second should be taken as an indication of extreme danger and an unmistakable warning that every second of delay in reversing course increases the probability of global disaster.”

It warned that the continuing war in Ukraine – now nearing a three-year mark since Russia’s full-scale invasion – “could become nuclear at any moment because of a rash decision or through accident or miscalculation”.

“Conflict in the Middle East threatens to spiral out of control into a wider war without warning,” the statement said.

The panel of scientists also said that “the long-term prognosis for the world’s attempts to deal with climate change remains poor, as most governments fail to enact the financing and policy initiatives necessary to halt global warming.”

In the biological arena, the BAS continued, “emerging and re-emerging diseases continue to threaten the economy, society and security of the world”.

It also warned that “an array of other disruptive technologies advanced last year in ways that make the world more dangerous”.

“Systems that incorporate artificial intelligence in military targeting have been used in Ukraine and the Middle East, and several countries are moving to integrate artificial intelligence into their militaries.”

The organisation stressed that all these dangers “are greatly exacerbated by a potent threat multiplier: the spread of misinformation, disinformation and conspiracy theories that degrade the communication ecosystem and increasingly blur the line between truth and falsehood”.

The US, China and Russia, the BAS said, “have the collective power to destroy civilisation”, adding that the three nations “have the prime responsibility to pull the world back from the brink”. /

Who invented the time, and do we really need it?

“Christiaan Huygens is usually credited as the inventor. He determined the mathematical formula that related pendulum length to time (about 99.4 cm or 39.1 inches for the one second movement) and had the first pendulum-driven clock made. The first model clock was built in 1657 in the Hague”.

“The measurement of time began with the invention of sundials in ancient Egypt some time prior to 1500 B.C. However, the time the Egyptians measured was not the same as the time today’s clocks measure. For the Egyptians, and indeed for a further three millennia, the basic unit of time was the period of daylight”.

For me, all this sounds complicated, in the end it´´s your life and you must take control of your time.

The average person accepts that time rules his life! And will follow the timelines that mostly are decided by law in its country! But remember that the country does not make people! People makes a country! You are the people! Do not allow others rule your mind!

All you really need to know regarding time is how to divide it into your own Time-Zones and you will be free to use it as you decided.

First you need to power your understanding of your time!        Who is controlling your time? Your work, your favorite television program, your friends, your dog, or your government ……?   

Are you loosing time, for good or bad?

Take a deep breath, at this moment, and count backwards, 5-4-3-2-1, now let the air out!                         Now, it’s up to you how you feel about these seconds. You may have lost 5 seconds, but you can also have learned something about using them, only by feeling the importance of breathing.

Maybe you find this article a bit strange? What I want to emphasize is that the so-called Doomsday is still just a scientific calculation, which has no direct significance other than a reminder.

Chinese New Year, 2025—Year of the Snake.

Chinese New Year, 2025—Year of the Snake.

I usually write something about the Chinese New Year, because I see this as the most logical horoscope on our planet. It’s not because I believe much in horoscopes in general, but it’s interesting because the Chinese follow the lunar cycle.

I was born in the year of the Rat in 1948 and have discovered that the Chinese horoscope is the one that most closely matches my personality.

Join the celebrations this Lunar New Year on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025. The Snake will be dominating this new year, and the celebrations in China will last up to 16 days!

Characteristics of the Snake are: *Wise * Cultivated * Cerebral * Accommodating  * Attractive * Amusing * Lucky * Elegant and *Decisive.

But can also be: Sore loser * Tight fisted * Possessive * Vengeful * Self-critical and * Lazy.

Snake was the 6th animal to arrive onboard Noah’s Ark, to join the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac signs, arriving after the Rat, Ox, Tigre, Rabbit, Dragon and before the Horse.

Recent years of the Snake include 2013, 2001, 1989, 1977, 1965, 1953, and 1941, and now the Snake year in 2025 (Year of the Wood Snake).

The year of the Snake is the time to make changes. Get down to business and stop clinging to traditions that are no longer useful. Don’t procrastinate! If you try, you will find that you are capable of quick decision-making. You are the only responsible for your survival! 2025 can be yours!

While 2025 is a challenging year for Snakes due to their Ben Ming Nian, lucky stars offer strong opportunities for career and financial growth. Stay focused, take necessary precautions, and balance challenges with joyful events to make the most of the year.

Snake Strengths

Snakes are self-respectful and steadfast; therefore, external voices won’t shake their resolve. They’re goal-oriented, and while they don’t often appear outwardly passionate, they’re blessed with a keen intuition and ample inspiration, making them very creative.

Indeed, Snake may well choose a career in art because they make connections between subjects. They also possess excellent taste, glide among the elite with elegance, and can remain calm in the most stressful situations.

Snake Weaknesses

Snakes are emotionally detached, which can, at times, manifest as coldness or selfishness. Others distrust them, as they seem to be calculating and only concerned with their own welfare, and Snakes distrust others in return.

With their romantic partners, Snakes may struggle to be vulnerable and will try to protect themselves with their usual detachment—which spells romantic failure and will, unfortunately, reinforce Snakes’ distrust for others in the future.

Snakes are generally fortunate in life, whether it be love, wealth, or career, but health is one area that may trouble them throughout the years. Thankfully, it’s mostly minor ailments that won’t affect Snake’s longevity.

This may have something to do with Snake’s naturally delicate constitution or their propensity to stay sedentary inside, often reading, writing, or creating art. In any case, try to mix activity into your day.

Summary of the Snake.

Finally, in the year of the Snake, you should take the opportunity to assess your goals and aspirations. Embrace the transformative energy of the year and be willing to shed old habits and perspectives that no longer serve you. Focus on your strengths, such as your creativity, intuition, and determination, to navigate the challenges ahead. By doing so, you will not only enhance your personal growth but also seize the numerous opportunities for career advancement and financial stability. Remember to balance your ambitions with moments of joy and relaxation to maintain a harmonious and fulfilling year.

The tide has turned: US media and tech giants now support Donald Trump.

Social Media makes a turn to Trump, 20th January 2025!

Suddenly there has been a notable change within Social Media.

Isn’t it strange that, during Donald Trump’s first term as president, his relationship with the American news media was marked by conflict, where he often criticized journalists who scrutinized him and his policies.

But ahead of his return to power, the tide has turned – several of America’s largest media and tech owners have already rallied behind him.

When it comes to Power and Money, it shows who your real friend is. Naysayers suddenly become Yessayers. The interest in the real political message doesn’t seem to be of much interest, power is what controls the economic greed.

Personally, I have never been one to turn my back on someone I previously supported. But this is what happens in reality, as in this case when Donald Trump regains the presidency of the United States.

I got to know Donald in Brussels many years ago, before he had any plans to become a presidential candidate. He was then an excellent and successful businessman with great care for those closest to him. I have since followed his successes, and support his policies as a US president.

And today, January 20, 2025, Donald Trump will once again be president in the White House. Good luck, Mr. President!

Former opponents bow down…

Donald Trump went from being banned from Instagram and Facebook after the storming of the Capitol in January 2021 to now being favored by parent company Meta.

Even tech mogul Jeff Bezos, who founded Amazon, has swung his stance towards Trump. In contrast to the most successful entrepreneur of today, Elon Musk, who has always been a loyal friend.

It’s easy to sort out the black sheep among the white ones.

Loyalty is something I learned as a young sailor (there are articles on my website www.windmush/a seaman’s blog) You have to be objective when choosing your friends who can later mean something to you in the future. I have known far too many who change their minds, just to get their financial gain, by breaking their own opinion. Bad examples, you should always stand up for what you have said!

Turmoil in social media makes the future shaky!

There has been an alarming development in the rise of social media. It all started with Six Degrees (1997) Friendster and Myspace(2003), which were later overtaken by Facebook(2004) and Twitter (2006, now X).

Ordinary people were given the opportunity to express their opinions or experiences to friends and acquaintances, which also opened the possibility of a new network of contacts all over the world, for those who wanted to.

The biggest breakthrough was Facebook, as the name suggests, your book with your face. This has later been abused with the help of fake images and identities. In addition to Facebook and Twitter, followers entered the competition.

Today we have:  Flickr, Reddit, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram, Quora, Snapchat, Telegram, Discord, Tik-Tok, Clubhouse, Bluesky You Tube and Google+. (Maybe even more?)

It has all developed into Big Business!

Unfortunately the economic impact thereby forgets the real people and members, behind the success, who have built this enormous network of contacts.

The first Big Business turmoil happened when Elon Musk bought Twitter and renamed it X, a brand that reflects his business empire, with many still continuing to call it Twitter, even though the purchase price was $44 billion.

Recently there are rumors of a new big purchase of the absolutely most popular media group, Tic-Tok! The American billionaire Frank McCourt has made a bid through his Project Liberty, which is not yet official, but it must be a gastronomic sum for the Chinese owner, ByteDance, to accept.

Challenging Big Tech

Frank McCourt is a former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and a construction and technology entrepreneur who wants to use his business to benefit society and therefore started Project Liberty a few years ago to counter Big Tech, which in his opinion has gone off the rails.

The constant surveillance, the exploitation of our data in a way we could never have imagined. The problem with social media that threatens our democracy by optimizing for polarization.

Media conflicts.

This development to improve the relationship between writers and companies has also been discussed in recent days by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg after pressure regarding free speech rights. This follows a number of attacks by Elon Musk and Donald Trump, who have criticized the right to censor in the media.

A significant reason for this discussion has its origins in Tik-Tok’s possible ban on publishing in the US market, as its government suspects that the Chinese government has political influence in Tik-Tok. This ban could possibly be lifted if an American owner of Tik-Tok becomes available.

 In the midst of these great powers on the battlefield, writers and members of social media groups have a hard time making themselves heard. A utopia would be for EVERYONE to stop posting! But this is unlikely because it has all become a huge money game instead of a family network.

Finally, I would like to mention the danger that these social media pose to our new generation of children, who are constantly being manipulated, without control. Facial scanning should be introduced, so that younger children cannot access all the fake and other garbage posted by adults.

Let common sense convince the giant media owners to restore order. I am prepared to say a prayer, to that end.

Seawater is essential for our survival in the future.

Seawater is our source for survival.

Seawater makes up about 96.5% of all the water on Earth. This vast amount of water is found in our oceans and seas, making it the most abundant source of water on the planet. The remaining 3.5% consists of freshwater found in glaciers, ice caps, groundwater, lakes, rivers, and the atmosphere.

Humidity plays a crucial role in weather patterns and can affect everything from how comfortable we feel to how plants grow; the air does contain water in the form of water vapor originates from the sea through a process called evaporation. When the sun heats up the surface of the ocean, water molecules gain enough energy to transform into vapor and rise into the atmosphere.

Drinking water from the Air.

Atmospheric Water Generation (AWG) is an innovative technology that extracts potable water from the humidity in the air. This process involves several methods, such as cooling the air to condense water vapor, using desiccants to absorb moisture, or employing membranes that only allow water vapor to pass through. AWG systems can be particularly useful in areas where access to clean water is limited or during emergencies when traditional water sources are compromised.

SkyH2O is a company that is scaling AWG technology to produce up to 200,000 liters of water daily at their stations.

There will be many more companies that will follow the concept of AWG in the future.

FOD (A Floating Offshore Desalination plant)

Water-supply from seawater.

Desalinated seawater is water that has been purified to remove salts and other impurities, making it suitable for drinking and other uses. This process is particularly important in regions where freshwater resources are scarce. There are several methods for desalinating seawater, including:

Reverse Osmosis: This is the most common method, where seawater is forced through a semi-permeable membrane that filters out salts and impurities.

Distillation: This involves heating seawater to create steam, which is then condensed back into liquid form, leaving the salt behind.

Electrodialysis: This method uses electrical currents to separate salts from the water.

Desalination plants are becoming increasingly important in providing a reliable source of freshwater, especially in arid regions and areas with limited access to natural freshwater sources.

Desalination plants from seawater can in many cases be an expensive investment, as well as finding a suitable location on the coast.

Offshore Plants.

A new model of offshore desalination plants has proven to be a faster solution in case of water shortage, which at the same time means a lower investment. These facilities will be manufactured as floating vessels, anchored far from the coast without taking up precious land.

A Norwegian company with experience in the offshore industry, FOD, can offer an installation within a 2-year period, which in the case of an onshore facility takes over 5 years to build with a significantly higher investment. A FOD offshore unit has production of 75,000 -100,000 m3/day of fresh water.

A number of other projects with offshore plants are at the experimental stage, although with less capacity.

Land based desalination plants.

 A medium capacity on a land base plant is between 10,000 and 250,000 m³/day. The space required for land-based desalination plants varies depending on the technology used, energy sources, and environmental impact considerations.

One example of a large Plant that was built in southern Australia and covers 38 ha of land, producing 300,000m3 / day. In this case, a large part has been built on wetlands, which were not built on. In other cases, precious coastal land must be used.

Environmental Impact: Modern desalination plants aim to minimize environmental impact by using energy-efficient technologies and reducing waste byproducts. For example, Alfa Laval’s desalination solutions use energy from waste process heat and other sources to generate large volumes of high-purity freshwater economically and sustainably.

Energy needed.

Desalination does NOT consume a lot of energy. The energy consumption of a desalination plant is currently around 3 kWh/m3, i.e. 0.003 kW is needed to produce one liter of fresh water. The cost of producing desalinated water from the sea is between €0.5 and €1.0 per cubic meter (1,000 liters).

Renewable energy can play an important role in desalination. Renewable technologies that are suited to desalination include solar thermal, solar photovoltaics (PV), wind, and geothermal energy.

Summary.

There is always access to underground water reservoirs, but unfortunately so much of this natural reserve has already been extracted and in the worst case, it could put the Earth’s balance at risk in terms of rotation. This discussion has taken place in world health organizations, but unfortunately without results.

As for desalination plants, the investments are quite large, but overall, purified seawater will be cheaper than the current supply of drinking water.

AWG, the extraction of water from the air, also becomes cheaper after investments earn interest.

Now begins the countdown to wind turbines and battery manufacturing.

In recent years, humanity has suffered from a hysteria to follow the wave of success by mass production within the energy market, but it is not possible that everyone can succeed in the same fields, to act as followers..
We can start with rotor-driven horizontal wind turbines, which in modern times began around 1980 in Denmark, today in 2024 there are over 300,000 worldwide. It has become fashionable to produce larger and stronger units, first in the countryside and later at sea.

What was not included in the calculation is that the lifetime of the rotor blades is a maximum of 25 years. After that, you have to replace the leaves because they have lost 10-20% of the material surface which forms Micro plastic in the atmosphere and is a threat to health.
The problem is that the material of the rotor blades is not degradable and therefore has to be buried because burning is not allowed, due to environmental influences. The result of this is that it is cheaper to scrap the entire wind turbine to build brand new ones.

Over 50% of the wind turbines will be scrapped, shortly. Some of these will be replaced by smaller and more efficient vertical built turbines (something I designed in 1982, but never launched on the market), which can also be used in densely built-up areas. #Inventions; Good and bad ideas. – Curt Bergsten/Windmush
The reason for the explosive expansion of today’s wind turbines is state subsidies (up to 80%) that the large international manufacturers have used, but the renewal of the rotor blades was not calculated in the calculation. Therefore, the companies do not want to stand for this costly renewal if the governments of countries do not cover the cost.

The golden age of the battery giants has ended!

Another boom in the manufacture of electric cars, to “save the environment”, has created a huge need for new lithium batteries productions. Mega factories have been built, which only manufacture batteries for electric vehicles. Now, after only a few years, these are facing extremely difficult financial conditions. Some have already filed for bankruptcy, as investment companies and government agencies have withdrawn their support. China will seize this opportunity and take over affected factories, which are later shut down to move production to countries with low production costs.

In addition, clear evidence has emerged that in most battery factories that manufacture lithium batteries, the staff have suffered from severe diseases linked to the manufacture.
Other problems are the costly extraction of Lithium, which mostly takes place in open pit mines, pollution and energy consumption are the biggest difficulties that arise in order to then manufacture environmentally friendly cars.

The environmental issue has stressed this problem which is only a short-term solution while waiting for Water-powered (hydrogen) vehicles to take over the market, which will come in the near future.
Toyota and Tesla are in the starting pits, but the launch depends only on financial calculations. Electric car production has not yet produced a financial return and therefore cannot be stopped before large-scale production of significantly more environmentally friendly vehicles is started.

Fusion power.

Additional aspects of energy production through wind turbines and solar cells are that the world’s demand for energy cannot be satisfied without additions from nuclear power plants and hydropower. What is needed is Fusion Power, which is also waiting to be launched and to be the solution to this demand.
There are already a number of countries that have manufactured and tested smaller fusion power plants, with good results!
Energy consumption in the world for AI (Artificial Intelligence) is today using 5-6% of the worlds total energy production, but within 5 years the consumption will be 50%, if the current development continues. This calculation also includes mega-computers used by cryptocurrencies.

When Fusion Power is introduced to the market, all wind turbines and solar farms can be dismantled.
Environmental organizations such as COP, among others, are to blame for hastily made decisions to implement environmentally friendly proposals, which the world’s governments have since been “forced” to follow, by subsidizing them.
We cannot control our entire globe through political decisions and through these believe that our earth’s own life cycle will change. Enormous climate changes have existed for millions of years and will continue without our participation.

#COP29 ended in a Total Chaos!

It happened again, #COP29 resulted in Chaos!

I cannot understand that the same error is repeated at every COP meeting that has been held. The whole conference is based on buying responsibility for climate change, by giving grants to underdeveloped countries. The EU only accepts to impose higher penalties on its members, while major powers such as the US, Russia and China reject their responsibility. During #CopAzarbajian29, several countries left the negotiations during the ongoing meeting.

COP29 has struck a last-minute deal for at least $300bn a year in climate funding by 2035 for developing countries. Earlier today, talks were on the brink of collapse after developing countries walked out, temporarily suspending negotiations on the climate finance text.

The Least Developed Countries (LDCs) bloc and Alliance Of Small Island States (AOSIS) walked out because they didn’t want to engage with a rough draft which reportedly contained a new core figure of $300 billion a year (up from the $250 billion in Friday’s official draft text).

The reluctance to negotiate consists of countries wanting more aid. Do you really believe that it is possible to buy back the return of the climate? The earth is undergoing a natural climate change that no one wants to accept.

The whole COP organization seems to be a gigantic FAKE!

The warming of the earth’s temperature began long before the great industrial development of the 20th century. An example is, during the Roman Empire, the temperature in the countries around the Mediterranean was 2.5 degrees warmer than today’s temperature.

What is never discussed on the COP meeting, is the 11 year cycles of the Sun which always bring unsettled weather all over the world due to these magnetic storms that the sunspots cause. In addition, our earth has undergone a variety of climate changes during its million-year life. Modern humanity has not existed has more than a micro fraction.

Let’s accept that there are changes, while at the same time carrying out preventive measures to reduce the impact of the forces of the weather. This should be the responsibility of every country towards its people. Money is needed for these improvements throughout the world, but not only for grants to underdeveloped countries. There are numerous examples of deadly weather-related disasters, in both industrialized countries and poorer areas, which could have been avoided if preventive measures had been taken many years ago.

Over the past six solar-storm years—1969, 1980, 1991, 2002, 2013, and 2024—there have been recurring instances of extreme weather conditions.

*1969, was the coldest world winter on record, while the drought was so severe that Niagara Falls was without water. It was called: “The 100-Hour Snowstorm of February 1969”. Mt. Washington in New Hampshire had over 8 feet of snow during the storm. On February 25 alone, Mt. Washington had over 4 feet of snow: 49.3 inches, which is still the one-day record. That contributed to the February 1969 monthly total of 172.8 inches (over 14 feet), which is still their monthly record.

 Another record in heat was measured in Australia, this event occurred during a severe drought in Queensland’s third driest on record. This event brought record-high temperatures to parts of central Queensland, with Rockhampton having its hottest day on record with 45.3 °C (Lived in Sydney at that time.)

*1980 United States heat wave was a period of intense heat and drought that wreaked havoc on much of the Midwestern United States and Southern Plains throughout the summer of 1980. It was among the most destructive and deadliest natural disasters in U.S. history, claiming at least 1,700 lives, including the eruption of Mount St.

*1991 Wintertime, -69,6 *C vas measured at Greenland weather station, the same year 1991 is called the 2nd warmest year on record!  Also, two massive earthquakes killed 3.498 people in India and Costa Rica. The second-largest volcanic eruption of the 20th century occurred at Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines on June 15, 1991.

*2002 There were several natural disasters around the world from various types of weather, including blizzards, cold waves, droughts, heat waves, tornadoes, and tropical cyclones. The worst winter storm to hit Britain for more than a decade caused widespread devastation yesterday as 100mph winds left at least seven people dead, paralyzed transport services and damaged property and power lines across the north. The deadliest disaster was a heat wave in India in May, which killed more than 1,030 people.

*2013   A Year of Extreme Weather Events. In early 2013, parts of the Southern Hemisphere witnessed record-high temperatures, with Australia experiencing its hottest month in January 2013 since record-keeping began more than a century ago. Meanwhile, the central and northeastern United States saw record snowfall and blizzard conditions. Precipitation continued to be extreme throughout the spring, with Spain seeing its wettest March on record.

* 2024 Heatwaves, floods, droughts and wildfires have become more common in Europe during summer months. August 2024 was the hottest August, summer 2024 was the hottest on record for Europe and globally. In June 2024, the devastating floods in Germany caused several fatalities and significant economic damages.

In November there was a terrible flood in the Valencia area, with over 240 dead from the huge mass of water which consisted mainly of mud.

I have experienced all these extreme weather conditions in my lifetime and know it will happen again. It is not just a matter of climate change caused by mankind; our earth is undergoing a constant change.

However, humanity should adapt to extreme weather, through preventive measures. It is not enough with all these COP meetings, which never brought noticeable changes.

#COP29Azarbaijan: Time is running out!

COP29, 2024, Is running out of time and money.

The first week of the COP29 summit in Baku ended with frustration because of a lack of progress on the key issue of financing the energy transition and climate adaptation in developing countries.

The latest data on increased emissions of Methane gas, which among other, are coming from 150 developing countries, which at previous COP meetings received a big contribution in economic aid for reducing their emissions of methane. Wasted money?

Private jets to Baku soared before start of COP29

Private jets aren’t the best look for attendees of a conference designed to curb climate change, but once again they’ve proved a popular mode of travel to COP29.

According to data from plane tracking website FlightRadar24, 65 private jets landed in Baku in the week to Monday. Of those, 45 arrived on Sunday and Monday as the summit began.

That’s twice as many jets compared with the same week last year, when 32 private jets touched down at Baku international airport. All others fly on scheduled flights in business class or above, still there is a large amount of emissions, with around 40,000 travelers. The next COP should be held online!

As far as I know, the Earth’s cycle of change is not on the program.

There is constant talk about climate change, which is blamed on industrial emissions and other pollution. There are no talks about how big the emissions from active volcanoes are per year. Nor the magnetic storms that the sun’s 11-year cycle creates in the outermost atmosphere less than 90,000 meters from the surface, which also affect the earth’s magnetic currents. (see info on NASA homepage). Changes in ocean currents as a result, that cause strong weather changes around the entire globe.

Are people too afraid to discuss these problems openly, or is it because it is not possible to arrange economic measures? Politicians do not want to discuss topics that they cannot decide on. Therefore, it is best to keep such information quiet.
